The VANEM (Vietnamese Association of Neurology, Electrophysiology, and Neurosonology) is all set to collaborate with the HCMC Neurological Society to organize a symposium on some pressing issues related to epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, and clinical electrophysiology. The event is scheduled for June 13, 2021, in Ho Chi Minh City from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.
The symposium will cover the following topics:
- Diagnosis and management of epilepsy based on the 2017 ILAE classification. Dr. Le Van Tuan, Head of the Department of Neurology at HCMC University of Medicine and Pharmacy, will give the talk.
- Diagnosis and management of sleep disorders with concomitant neuromuscular pathology. Dr. Duong Quy Sy, President of the Vietnam Sleep Medicine Society, will give the talk.
- Electrophysiological approach to the diagnosis and management of peripheral neuropathies. Dr. Tran Thanh Hung, Department of Neurology, HCMC University of Medicine and Pharmacy, will give the talk.
- Can MRI be used to diagnose neuromuscular disorders? Dr. Cao Thien Tuong, Department of Radiology, Cho Ray Hospital, will give the talk.
- When to use IVIg/plasma exchange to manage neuromuscular disorders, and what to do when they fail? Dr. Le Tu Quoc Tuan, Department of Neurology, Trieu An Hospital, will give the talk.
Additionally, there will be 4-5 clinical case presentations on epilepsy and neuromuscular disorders by leading neurologists nationwide. VANEM members attending the symposium will also elect the Executive Board for the 4th term (2021-2023).
We warmly welcome all our colleagues to participate in this event. Learning from our experiences in 2020, the symposium will be primarily conducted online to ensure more comprehensive access for interested colleagues from all regions.
